Are We Covered by OHIP? Here’s the Truth About Funding for Addiction & Mental Health Care

At Hope Valley Healing, one of the most common questions we receive is: “Are your services covered by OHIP?”
Unfortunately, the answer is no. In Ontario, the government does not currently fund addiction and mental health treatment in the way we believe it should. This reality is heartbreaking, because we’ve seen firsthand how the lack of timely access to care can cost lives—including within our own families.

Why Hope Valley Exists
Hope Valley was founded by individuals with both lived and professional experience in treatment. We’ve worked within ministry-funded programs and the private sector, and we know the gaps. That’s why we built a model of care designed for change—one that prioritizes dignity, compassion, and accessibility.
Our vision is to expand access by offering compassionate care beds subsidized through our fee-for-service program. We anticipate this initiative will be active by January 2026.
The Cost of Delay
We have witnessed too many people lose their lives while waiting for help. That sense of urgency fuels our mission to create the infrastructure and programs Canada desperately needs.
Making Care Accessible Now
To reduce barriers today, we’ve created:
A competitive and modest pricing model
Free Family First sessions every Monday evening online (open to all, no affiliation needed)
Plans for compassionate care spots in our VIOP programming, beginning October
Our Mission Moving Forward
Without government funding, our growth depends on alternative channels and the commitment of our community. Still, our mission remains clear: to create space for healing and hope, no matter the obstacles.
